How to Apply
- On our official website, fill in the competition application form, and upload it with the applicant’s artist photo data (front photo of the upper body, clear, high quality image, approx. 1MB – 3MB so as to be applicable for brochures and/or flyers).
- The preliminary stages are to be judged with movies submitted.
Video-record the applicant’s performance of the preliminary repertoire and upload it onto Youtube as an “unlisted” (limited audience) link.
Any movie data should be of recording within six months before application.
※Previous prize-winners of this competition are excused from the preliminary (also from preliminary fee.)
Note) Application deadline is Dec 12th (Fri), 2025. (Submission of 1) and 2) is required even though you are excused from the preliminary.)
Competition Participation Fee
- Preliminary fee ￥13,200 (after tax)
Please pay the preliminary fee by December 12th (Fri), 2025. Payment is acceptable only by PayPal (with a credit card). - Semi-final registration fee ￥24,200 (after tax)

Payment guide will be provided in an auto-delivered confirmation email after the application form registration.
After receipt of the fee is confirmed, details on competition participation will be sent to the applicant. Neither the preliminary fee nor semi-final registration fee is refundable under any circumstances.
Notes
- Neither incomplete application form, nor submission of any application or movie upload link after the deadline is acceptable. Please be aware that failure to pay the competition participation fee by the set dates will be automatically interpreted as the applicant’s withdrawal from the competition.
- The order of applicants’ performances will be decided by the Competition Office. Basically any request for the performance order or date is not acceptable.
- The day before the semi-final, on March 24th, 2026, the overall guidance will be given in Munetsugu Hall. The exact starting time will be announced directly to the semi-final participants by email after the preliminary result announcement.
16 semi-final participants should come to the ground floor counter of Munetsugu Hall to confirm their application for the semi-final by the specified meeting time for the guidance.
In the following procedure, participants should come the specified place by the specified time.
Failure to do so without due cause will lead to disqualification. - The semi-final participants must bring his/her piano accompanist. Any expense incurred (reward to the pianist, transportation and accommodation cost) must be borne by the participant.
If you request an official accompanist for this competition, fill in an application form attached to the email of “Notice of Pass” which is scheduled to be sent on a later day, and submit it by email by the deadline of the semi-final entry fee payment.
※The charge of an official accompanist request, 33,000 Japanese yen (after tax) (including the charge for a rehearsal during the competition period and one for the day of the stage performance) must be paid at the ground floor reception counter of Munetsugu Hall during the competition period, before any rehearsal. - The Competition Office has unrestricted rights to sound- and video-record and photograph all of music performances in the competition participation, and copy and distribute any of them, etc.
- For applicants from overseas who have passed the preliminary (online judgement) and qualify for the semi-final, part of their air transportation cost may be assisted, according to the Competition Regulations. (80,000 JPY to an applicant from a non-Asian country, and 40,000 JPY to an applicant from an Asian country except Japan will be paid.) The grant will be paid at the ground floor reception counter of Munetsugu Hall on March 24th, 2026, at the time of the entry registration.
